Documents Performance of Brush Extended-Life Heads Brush provides technology for Atlanta's rapidly growing mass transit system.
MARTA's electronic lab, in Decatur, Georgia provided the following data about the Brush heads.
In its memo regarding the November 19, 1993 data, MARTA stated that "The heads were inspected for wear By the maintenance foreman and he reports, 'no sign of wear, at all.'" According to Jim Marcusky, MARTA Senior Mechanical Engineer, "We are very pleased with the performance of the Brush heads. They don't seem to show any sign of wear." Supermium® is a proprietary Sendust (iron silicon-aluminum) alloy that has been further refined by Brush since its introduction in 1987. An independent university study confirms that ceramic-coated Supermium® heads have more than 100 times the life expectancy of heads with mu metal cores. Long-life heads from Brush maintain gap integrity throughout their lifespans. Predictable wear rates and extended mean time Between failures make Brush Supermium® heads a highly reliable, cost-effective choice for high-traffic installations.
